Hanneke Van Camp’s life has revolved around nature from a young age. She inherited this passion from her parents, both long-time volunteers at Natuurpunt, who took her outdoors every weekend. Later, she graduated as a biologist and earned a postgraduate degree in science communication. Today, she combines her love of nature with photography, where her scientific background, curiosity, image, and storytelling converge.
Studying biology felt like a natural progression for Hanneke. Everything living has always been a common thread throughout her life, from the smallest detail to vast landscapes. Gradually, the urge to share that sense of wonder grew, to make the often complex natural world understandable and tangible for others. That’s why she also delved into science communication. Her versatility has taken her to many places, but her absolute favorite: the Far North . She knows the ins and outs of it like no other.
In 2025, she published a photo book with her partner Arne . ” Sápmi – Living Landscapes ” invites you to the far north of Europe, where nature, light, and silence converge in a tranquil and powerful story. The book is the result of years of travel through the traditional Sami region and reflects Hanneke’s signature style: soft landscapes, subtle colors, and images that leave room for interpretation. ” Sáp mi – Living Landscapes” is a poetic ode to a landscape and way of life that centers on the connection between humanity and nature, a vision that also forms the basis of her work as a photographer and guide.
On a trip with Hanneke, it quickly becomes clear that you’re not just there to take some nice photos. She’ll draw you into her story. Her expertise and skill mean you can only learn more . Besides being an excellent photographer and guide, socializing is also crucial to her. She’ll do everything she can to ensure the group has a great time, so you can go home with beautiful memories and a memory card full of stunning results.
