As a child, it was more likely to find Bart outdoors then inside the house. This way he developed a deep interest and love for nature and everything that has to do with it. For years he was a keen birder and this way he took his first steps in photography, a hobby that soon became an addictive passion.
In 2011 Bart gave up his IT job and started working full-time as a nature and landscape photographer. Nowadays you can always find him with the camera in hand, but the binoculars are never far away. A photo workshop or tour with Bart is always a real nature trip too, filled with facts about the landscapes, plants and insects that appear in front of his lens.
As a full-time landscape and nature photographer (and popular nature photography guide) Bart works for NGOs, governments, tourist services, interior architects, advertising agencies and photo magazines. In addition, he gives lectures and organizes workshops and photography trips for beginning and advanced photographers at home and abroad. He lost his heart to the Flemish Ardennes, but also likes to travel around the world looking for new places and pictures.
As a fine art photographer, Bart sells images to private individuals and (inter)national press. In 2013, in collaboration with Publisher Lannoo, he published his first book ‘Silent Fields – Getuigplekken uit Wereldoorlog I’. In 2016, the book ‘De Heuvels van de Ronde’ followed, where Bart presented his own region, the Flemish Ardennes, using his typical, beautiful landscape photographs and interviews with some well-known cyclists. In 2017 he was appointed Nikon Ambassador for Belgium.
Over the years Bart developed a recognizable style, with a distinct feeling for light and atmosphere. The alarm clock is always set early, because he loves the moment when nature awakes right before dawn. Preferably with a little bit of fog, of course. You can also count on maximum atmosphere and conviviality during his workshops and tours. Because in addition to an overdose of knowledge and tips, participants that travel with this landscape photographer always get a good portion of humor and fun on the side. So be warned: whoever travels with Bart once, wants to go with him again!
A trip with Bart? That is always a real workshop. You will undoubtedly learn a lot about the region and nature, but photography comes first. After such an intensive photo tour you will definitely return home with a lot of inspiration and a trained eye!
